Emergency & immediate help
Emergency tradespeople in Mallorca: companies by situation
Pick the situation you are facing. Every page starts with what you can do yourself - which often solves the problem or stops it getting worse - and then lists specialists from the directory.
- Air conditioning breakdown In peak season from June to September, an air conditioning failure in Mallorca is not a comfort issue but, in a let property, a case for immediate action - indoor temperatures above 30 degrees are grounds for complaint.
- Burst pipe and water leak Water is the most common cause of building damage of all. In Mallorca there is a further twist: in second homes that stand empty for months, a leak often runs unnoticed for weeks - and the damage is then many times what it would have been on the first day.
- Power cut and short circuit Before every call to an electrician there is one question that no portal answers properly: is it the grid or your own installation? The answer decides whether you pay a call-out charge or simply have to wait.
- Blocked drains and waste water The systems in Mallorca are not the ones you are used to at home: many fincas are not connected to the mains drainage but to a septic tank (fosa séptica), and the drinking water comes from a cistern (aljibe) or a tank. If you do not know that, you will call out the wrong firm.
- No hot water Hot water in Mallorca rarely fails because of frost - it fails because of limescale. The very hard mains water furs up immersion heaters and heat exchangers, and at some point the water simply stays cold.
- Pool equipment failure In a let property a broken pool in peak season is an economic problem: guests complain and rent reductions loom. Most cases, though, are same-day repairs and not a night-time emergency.

Frequently asked questions
Is there really a 24-hour emergency service in Mallorca?
Yes, but not everywhere and not in every trade. Out-of-hours cover is most common with air conditioning and electrical firms, less so with plumbers. Many small firms do turn out at night without advertising it, so it is worth calling even where no cover is listed.
What does an emergency call-out cost in Mallorca?
There are no reliable average prices for the island, and we do not invent any. Expect a call-out fee, an hourly rate and a surcharge for nights, weekends and public holidays. What matters is not the amount itself but that all three are stated before any work begins.
How do I protect myself from an inflated invoice?
Insist on a presupuesto previo, a written quote before work starts. Refusing to give one runs through almost every documented complaint. Ask for the call-out fee, the hourly rate and any surcharge before anyone sets off, and if in doubt call a second firm.
Should I call my insurer first or a tradesperson?
For water, storm and fire damage, call the insurer first unless there is immediate danger. Many policies require the insurer to be able to inspect the damage, and several work with their own approved firms. Make the situation safe, photograph everything, and call the tradesperson after that.
Will someone speak English at night?
Not necessarily. During the day many firms have English-speaking staff; at night you often reach only the technician on duty. We state the languages we could verify for each company. For the worst case, every situation page carries the Spanish phrases you need.
How do you know which company is on call?
We use two levels. Advertises out-of-hours service means the company states it on its own website; we quote the source but have not checked it. Confirmed by phone means we called, including outside business hours, and had the availability confirmed.
How we check out-of-hours claims
An emergency number that nobody answers at night is worse than no number at all. So we show what every claim is based on, using two levels:
- advertises out-of-hours service
- The company states on its own website or materials that it can be reached outside business hours. We quote the source word for word, but we have not yet checked it ourselves. This currently applies to 14 companies.
- confirmed by phone
- We called - including outside business hours - and had the availability confirmed. This check is under way; confirmed entries are re-checked regularly and downgraded if nobody answers.
No company pays to be listed here, and the order is not for sale. Wrong details or an excessive invoice? Tell us - we correct entries and downgrade them.
